MPA Innovation Summit: Recap

The hy.pr team had a fantastic time at last week’s MPA Innovation Summit in New York. Kudos to all the MPA staff and particularly Jenn Broadbin and Felicity Crew, who organized a truly remarkable event. We are very much looking forward to all you upcoming events!
On Wednesday, we attended the general sessions at the Grand Hyatt and had a table set up for meeting with potential clients and attendees. In this image, members of the hy.pr team are chatting with a gentleman from National Geographic Magazine.

During the general sessions, Smub, Inc.’s VP of Media, David Weir (@hotweir) introduced the panel on Changes in Printing Technologies. He also did a brief demonstration of hy.pr, which was integrated throughout the print program for the summit. In fact, if you’d like to give hy.pr a try for yourself, you can share our print ad from the program by typing mpa.hy.pr/share into your browser’s address bar.

On Thursday, members of the hy.pr staff attended each of the summit’s breakout sessions on Ad Sales & Marketing, Consumer Marketing and Editorial topics. I attended the Consumer Marketing breakout, which was held in the breathtaking Hearst Tower. Escalators have never looked classier:

Although all the talks and panels were great, some standouts from the Consumer Marketing breakout session were All You Editor Clare Mchugh’s talk “How to Edit for Today’s Consumer,” and the “How Should Magazines Manage the Brand?” panel featuring Michelle Ebanks of Essence, Alan Press of The Economist and Andy Sareyan of Meredith. Having the opportunity to listen to such interesting, bright and intelligent people speak was amazing.
All in all, it was a great experience. We hope to have some very good news resulting from our time at the MPA Innovation Summit in the days and weeks to come. Please stay tuned!
